One of a number of crags that line the A31, the motorway from Alicante to Madrid.

Character

This is a funny crag. As the Rockfax guide mentions, it has a reputation for being under-graded, under-protected and somewhat polished. All these things do appear to be somewhat true. In fact, in many ways it has the feeling of an English limestone crag. However, that all said, it is still a surprisingly pleasant location set in amongst the pine trees with views out over the Vinalopo valley.

All the routes here are sport routes and they are mainly single pitch routes although a number of 2 pitch ones do exist as well.

Tips

  • Climb with a state of mind where you expect to add about half a grade to most routes. So if the route was low in the grade then it probably remains unchanged, however, if it was high in the grade then expect it to feel like one grade harder.
  • If you are coming from the North of Alicante towards this crag you may find the directions in the Rockfax at first appear a little odd. It looks as if the A31 would be the faster route. This may be true but, unfortunately, the A31 is now an extremely unpleasant drive due to the sheer amount of traffic that it carries.
