A fine crag with some excellent sport routes, predominantly 6a and up. It's easy accessibility and closeness to the motorway means that this crag has undergone a considerable amount of development.

The author failing a F6a+ at Gandia

Character

Single pitch sport climbing. Although this crag is in two tiers the ledge between is quite large with easy access. The crag is located in a wide valley just inland from Gandia town. It is in an open position and faces south. It is thus, quite exposed to the sun.

Tips

bulletBird restrictions apply during the Spring on certain routes.
bulletThere is a bypass around Gandia (thank goodness) so no more driving through car parks. Follow the bypass now and take the 2nd exit for the Gandia crag. This has brought Gandia, Salem and El Aventador closer to anyone based around Calpe or Benidorm.

bulletCrag: Candelabra del Sol

Route: Pere (6c+)

Description: You can't fall off of bigger holds. Pumpy, powerful moves off of massive tufa tongues and deep sinker pockets. Short but sweet.
